Are You For Reel? How Moving Images Changed Advertising
December 22, 2024When was the last time you stopped everything just to watch a reel?
Let’s rewind back to 1896, when the Lumière brothers premiered one of the first-ever films: Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat.
Legend has it, the scene felt so real that some of the audience fled to the back of the room, convinced the train was about to burst through the screen.
Fast forward to today, and moving images—whether video or stop-motion animation—are now staples of advertising.
The same magic that once stunned a roomful of cinema-goers is now the force driving engagement in the digital age.
And though, unlike the back-then-folks, we no longer leap out of our seats in terror, we do still give our undivided attention to this timeless medium.
(Not so) coincidentally, my portfolio just got a big update! Some of my photos have been transformed into moving images, with more to follow in the New Year. Come See for yourself!
Thanks for tuning in today and Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Talk to you soon!
